The Elizabeth and Mary Jones Foundation - Wednesbury

The Elizabeth and Mary Jones Foundation was established in 1927 following the death of Miss Elizabeth Jones.  It originally comprised six 'almshouses' in Wednesbury, five in Holyhead Road and one in Meeting Street, to be let to 'married couples from the industrial classes' who required 'assistance in maintaining themselves'.

Unfortunately Miss Elizabeth Jones did not leave any money for the maintenance of the properties so that by the mid 1950's the properties became derelict and were demolished by order of the local Council.  From then on the Foundation became moribund and gradually lost its Trustees.

The Harborne Parish Lands Charity recently revived the Foundation and is offering grants totalling £3,000 per annum to organisations actively involved in helping to support Wednesbury residents who are in need and to individual Wednesbury residents.

To apply to be considered for a grant as an organisation please click here for an application form (Harborne Parish Lands Charity grant form).  Please use your browser to print and apply by post.

Individuals will need to be referred by a local agency/organisation.  For informal enquiries please contact theclerk@hplc.fednet.org.uk
